Sir, Your editorial, "Royal Mail needs a thorough sort-out" (August 13), claims that the Communication Workers Union is a "bastion of resistance to modernisation". A little harsh considering that since 2001, and uniquely, the CWU has been arguing the case for overcoming decades of under-investment in the Royal Mail. These days everyone, including the FT, has caught up with our position.
