Blacks’ decision to ditch surfwear boost sales

The fashion craze for surfing clothes in the UK looks all but dead, after Blacks Leisure said that its conversion of dedicated surfwear stores to more traditional outdoor clothing formats had boosted profits by more than 20 per cent.

“It’s one of those fashion markets that’s sort of had its time,” said Neil Gillis, chief executive of Blacks.
