Unions criticise scope of gangmaster regime

Union leaders criticised the government on Monday for failing to extend its regime for gangmasters to sectors such as construction, hospitality and care.

Two million workers were still being kept in conditions that shamed a modern economy, said Brendan Barber, general secretary of the Trades Union Congress. An opportunity had been missed to bring those workers under the law.
