Samuel Israel on Thursday was denied bail and ordered to be jailed immediately after the former hedge fund manager abused his previous bail terms by faking his own death and going on the run, forcing an international manhunt.

Mr Israel appeared in court in Manhattan at 10am on Thursday, about 24 hours after he walked into a police station in Massachusetts and surrendered.
