The Takeover Panel has given the private equity consortium led by Providence Equity Partners less than three weeks to announce a firm intention to bid for Informa, the publisher of Lloyd’s List, or to walk away.

The “put up or shut up” ruling, which sets a deadline of September 26, has been accepted by both parties.
