Legal blow as three cleared of 7/7 charges

Survivors and relatives of those killed in the July 7 2005 bombings in London on Tuesday night renewed their call for an independent inquiry after three men were cleared of helping to plan the suicide attacks.

The not guilty verdicts against the only people ever tried in connection with the deadly bombings are a heavy blow to police and prosecutors, whose increasingly patchy record in the biggest terrorism cases has vexed the government.
