Lifting the lid on hedge fund risks

Working out what hedge fund managers are doing inside their black boxes is a major challenge. However, it is small beer for a mathematician whose most challenging project was the scheduling of optimal beer delivery routes in the former Soviet Union.

Michael Markov (norelation of Andrey Markov, the 19th century Russian mathematician) went on to found Markov Processes International in the US, developing fund analytics software and consulting services.
