Brown under pressure over second bail-out

Gordon Brown is braced for a backlash on Monday from opposition politicians and disgruntled voters alike over the need for a second banking bail-out – just three months after the last one.

The prime minister’s weekend has been dominated by negotiations to stitch together the deal due to be announced before the markets opened on Monday morning.
