Nissan has laid out aggressive production targets for an all-electric car that it plans to launch in the US and Japan next year, saying it will build 100,000 of the zero-emission vehicles around the time they are sold globally in 2012.
Carlos Ghosn, chief executive, said on Tuesday he was confident that Japan’s third-largest automaker could produce and sell the cars on a “mass market” scale of 100,000 units a year or more, and to manufacture it in the US as well as Japan.
