Iraqi militants have kidnapped an Iraqi man who holds German citizenship and demanded in a videotape that Germany frees Muslim prisoners, Al Jazeera television said on Thursday.

“Iraqi militants holding a man they say has a German passport, have called on Germany to release Muslims imprisoned in its jails,” Al Jazeera said, showing parts of the videotape it said it obtained from the Associated Press news agency.
