Former S Africa police chief denies graft

Jackie Selebi, South Africa’s former police chief, on Monday pleaded not guilty to corruption charges and immediately alleged that two prosecuting officials were themselves guilty of corruption.

Mr Selebi, South Africa’s first black police commissioner, is charged with receiving payments from Glenn Agliotti, a convicted drug smuggler accused of playing a role in the 2005 murder of a mining tycoon.
