The global trading of equities and derivatives is converging as banks, exchanges and independent providers jockey for position in the race for greater profits, amid unprecedented regulatory and market structure reform.

The borders between the once separate worlds of derivatives trading on public exchanges and private, over-the-counter transactions are becoming blurred.
