Business finds a champion in rise of stock car racing

On billboards and street banners, in windows and on T-shirts, the city of Charlotte in North Carolina has a message for the outside world: "Racing was built here. Racing belongs here."

Charlotte is using the slogan to promote its bid in an Olympics-style battle with four other US cities for the Nascar Hall of Fame, a shrine to the drivers and cars of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing.
