BoE governor warns on derivatives risk

Sir Andrew Large, deputy governor of the Bank of England, on Wednesday joined the ranks of central bankers who have warned recently about the risks inherent in the growth of the derivatives markets.

Speaking at a banking conference in Istanbul, Sir Andrew cautioned that new entrants such as hedge funds and insurers have become active in derivatives at a time when the depth of the market is still untested.
