Having scaled one mountain in the asset management industry, Roger Yates revealed that he was stepping down as chief executive of Henderson to climb two more – this time real ones on the other side of the Atlantic.
The Cheshire-born 51-year-old said that after nine years at the helm of Henderson, overseeing its move from a lossmaking subsidiary of AMP, the Australian insurer, into a pure fund manager with shares listed in Australia and London, he was going to take time off and climb Aconcagua in Argentina and Mount McKinley in Alaska. After that he wants to spend more time with his four children and three-month-old black labrador puppy Keira.
