VW chief kills ‘world car’ dream

Martin Winterkorn, Volkswagen’s chief executive, said on Thursday that the days of building one car for the whole world were “dead and buried”.

He put his bets on special models in the US, China and India as part of a model framework designed to help Europe’s largest carmaker in its bid to overhaul Toyota.
