Violence brings Kenyan tourism to its knees

Framed by a shaved scalp and beads threaded through the loops of her earlobes, the wrinkles on Napalos Maitai’s brow are furrowed into an almost permanent expression of sadness.

As she looks out across Kenya’s Masai Mara game reserve, which stretches to the horizon like a ruffled green carpet, her voice is filled with despondency.
