When Marc Jacobs chose a relatively obscure back street in London’s Mayfair as the site for his first UK store, which opened in February, it might have raised eyebrows in some quarters.
The high-end New York fashion designer might have been expected to site an important UK debut among his peers in New Bond Street or Conduit Street, both little more than a stone’s throw away, rather than in the more traditional and quiet elegance of Mayfair.
