Talks will take place in the next few days to save the $20m (£11.5m) Twenty20 cricket match due to be played between England and the Stanford Superstars in Antigua next month after the Court of International Arbitration in London ruled Tuesday that the game could not be sanctioned by the West Indies Cricket Board.

Allen Stanford, the Texan billionaire financier, is putting up the winner- takes-all prize in an attempt to raise standards in the West Indies and take the game to the US. But his plan to bypass Digicel, the official WICB sponsor, has come unstuck after the court upheld the telecoms company's claim the Superstars was the West Indies team in all but name.
