HMV targeted despite solid results

HMV, the music and books retailer, produced a solid set of full-year results but failed to deter short-sellers from taking a punt on its demise.

The most shorted stock in the retailing sector endured a sharp sell-off, falling 17p to 112½p, as analysts continued to voice concerns about the group’s ability to prosper in the digital age.
