Shares in Indonesia’s second biggest coal miner Adaro Energy surged 57 per cent on its Wednesday debut, as investors were eager to gain exposure to the country’s fast-growing coal sector.
Adaro raised $1.3bn from the sale of a 35 per cent stake, with the bulk of shares going to investors already connected with the company. The tight allocation prompted strong demand from local and offshore fund managers on the first day of trade.
