Football legend Puskas dies

Ferenc Puskas, the footballer who led Hungary’s “golden team” of the 1950s and later starred at Real Madrid, died Friday morning in a Budapest hospital after a long illness. He was 79.

The most celebrated player of a generation of Hungarians who changed the shape of the game, introducing what became known as “total football,” Puskas had battled Alzheimers since 2000.
