Fujitsu reforms chipmaking with TSMC deal

Fujitsu is to outsource production of its most advanced semiconductors to TSMC of Taiwan as the restructuring of Japan’s chip industry gathers pace.

The two companies said on Thursday that TSMC would make Fujitsu’s chips with features as small as 40 nanometres and that they would collaborate on future chips of 28 nanometres and less.
