As the most important UK centre for financial services outside London and Edinburgh, Yorkshire cannot escape the consequences of a credit crunch that has hit some of its leading institutions hard.

Yet despite the turmoil in the markets, the region has many strengths as a place to do business – not least the enormous reserves of expertise it has to offer in financial and professional services.
