E-commerce companies got 50 per cent more private equity funding in 2003 than at the height of the boom, according to the British Venture Capital Association.
In 2003 e-commerce companies received £399m from private equity funders compared with £264m in 2000. The definition covers businesses that derive a significant percentage of sales from the internet or support internet services rather than the original dotcom model of trading solely or principally online.
