Biochemistry alone cannot explain market turmoil

Sir, Your editorial “Calibrating cojones” (April 16) provides some interesting suggestions on how to reduce the level of testosterone on the trading floor. While a greater proportion of women traders would necessarily reduce the concentration of testosterone, the root problem in financial markets is not simply hormonal. We must ask ourselves why we have allowed male biochemistry to exert such an unwarranted influence on the capital markets and economy.
