Crude retreats below $60 a barrel

Oil suffered a sharp correction this week, falling below $60 a barrel for the first time since mid-May, as bearish US supplies data took its toll on investor sentiment.

Weekly official US inventories data showed that distillates stocks rose to the highest level in nearly 25 years.
