Spotlight on Greek finance minister choice

Given the dire state of Greece’s public finances, European Commission officials and market watchers alike are taking a keen interest in who George Papandreou chooses as finance minister.

The prime minister-elect has already announced he will split the finance ministry into two separate departments. One will handle economic policy-making and the other the critical task of improving revenue collection and controlling spending.
