Russia pulls out of Georgia buffer zones

Russian forces pulled out on Wednesday from the contentious buffer zones flanking Georgia’s breakaway enclaves of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, two days ahead of a deadline set under a ceasefire brokered by the European Union.

But Georgia demanded they take immediate further steps, raising fresh tension.
