Korea’s STX takes control of Aker Yards

STX Group, the South Korean conglomerate, has tightened its grip on Norway’s Aker Yards, Europe’s biggest shipbuilder, by acquiring an additional 48 per cent of its shares for Won660bn ($636m).

The Korean company has now spent some Won1,400bn to build its 88.4 per cent shareholding in the Norwegian shipbuilder.
