BBC wants C4 to waive rights to licence fee

The BBC wants Channel 4 to waive its claim to any further money from the licence fee in return for a partnership agreement aimed at solving the smaller broadcaster’s financial crisis.

But Luke Johnson, Channel 4 chairman, told MPs on Tuesday he would not agree to any deal that prevented his organisation benefiting from a future redistribution of some of the BBC’s £3.4bn ($5.2bn) annual funding.
