Schaeffler wins $16bn battle for Continental

Schaeffler’s €11.35bn ($16bn) hostile battle to win control of Continental ended on Thursday after the privately owned industrials group paid out €75 per share to shareholders in the world’s biggest car-parts supplier.

Schaeffler, which is owned by billionaire Maria-Elisabeth Schaeffler, said it held 49.9 per cent of Conti’s voting stock.
