Medvedev must act in BP row

Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s president, took power pledging to uphold the rule of law. It is high time he did so in the bitter dispute between BP and its Russian partners over the $30bn TNK-BP oil joint venture.

If Mr Medvedev does not act soon it may be too late to save a business launched with the personal blessing of Vladimir Putin, his predecessor and now prime minister.
