Blackstone last night deepened its exposure to the cinema industry when it agreed to buy the UK assets of UGC, the French cinema group, in a deal worth about £200m.

It follows the buy-out group's acquisition of Cine-UK for about £120m in September and is Blackstone's second large deal of the week.
