Bush denies report of spying on Americans

President George W. Bush on Thursday denied that his administration was spying on Americans, after a media report claimed the National Security Agency was collecting the phone records of millions of Americans.

USA Today reported that AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth had been providing the NSA with the phone records of up to 200m Americans, to allow the ultra-secret surveillance agency to analyse calling patterns. A senior US official confirmed the accuracy of the report.
