News Corporation, publisher of the Sun, the Times and News of the World, has decided to delay the planned development of its well-known ”Fortress Wapping” headquarters as the global economy turns down.

In a memo to staff James Murdoch, the chairman and chief executive of News Corporation Europe and Asia, said the redevelopment of the east London site would have involved “significant expenditure” and had been indefinitely delayed.
