Staff fraud leaps as recession bites

Employee fraud leapt more than two-thirds during the first half of this year, a leading business anti-scam body claimed on Thursday, in what it said was a sign that the recession is biting hard.

Female workers accounted for the bulk of the rise, the Cifas fraud prevention service said, showing that economic hard times were chipping away at fraud’s status as a quintessentially male activity.
