Bickering puts German executive pay bill at risk

Pre-election bickering be­tween the two parties of Germany’s ruling coalition is threatening to derail an agreement, ex­pected on Wednesday, on measures to improve shareholders’ scrutiny of boardroom pay in listed companies.

Last-minute demands by senior members of the Christian Democratic Union and the Social Democratic party could make it difficult for coalition leaders to reach a final agreement on the executive compensation bill, according to MPs and senior party officials on both sides.
