Qantas to axe 90 senior management jobs

Qantas, the Australian flag carrier, is to axe 90 senior management jobs and maintain a salary freeze to stem costs to counter the effects of the global aviation downturn.

The cuts, foreshadowed in the Financial Times on Monday, came as Alan Joyce, Qantas chief executive, warned that the sector faced considerable commercial challenges “for the foreseeable future”.
