Although sentiment towards Egypt’s expanding liquefied natural gas sector remains bullish, there are creeping industry concerns about rising production costs and the level of the government’s cap on prices for domestic gas.
The country’s gas production has enjoyed rapid growth over the last six years, with production doubling to more than 5bn standard cubic feet a day. It is a boom that has been backed by billions of dollars of foreign investment and has seen it rise to become the world’s sixth largest gas exporter, with supplies going to Europe, the US and Asia.
