New Zealand economy slips into recession

New Zealand has sunk into its first recession in 10 years following a 0.2 per cent contraction in gross domestic product in the three months ended June, the country’s statistician said on Friday.

It was the second successive quarter of weakness following the 0.3 per cent decline in the three months ended June, and marks out New Zealand as among the world’s first developed economies to fall into recession.
