Aung San Suu Kyi, the Burmese opposition leader and Nobel laureate, is to serve a further 18 months’ house arrest after a court convicted her of breaching the terms of her incarceration when a US tourist swam to her villa.
The court, sitting in Rangoon’s notorious Insein prison, sentenced Ms Suu Kyi, 64, and Khin Khin Win and Win Ma Ma, her housemates, to three years’ hard labour.
