Hungary’s premier rules out flat tax

Hungary’s prime minister has announced an ambitious tax-cutting drive that would shave Ft1,200bn from the country’s budget over the next four years, while staking his political future on getting his minority government’s budget passed by parliament.

But Ferenc Gyurcsany ruled out introducing the flat tax that has proven so successful at boosting revenues and attracting investors to booming neighbouring countries including Romania and Slovakia.
