UN makes final Iraq reparations award

The United Nations body in charge of Iraqi reparations for Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait in 1990-91 yesterday made its final awards of $367m (€303m, £205m), of which $252m was for environmental damage.

Iraq had earlier called for a halt to the diversion of 5 per cent of its oil revenues to pay compensation to victims of the invasion, saying it was ready to negotiate claims bilaterally.
