Renault offers glimmer of hope

Carlos Ghosn, Renault’s chief executive, held out a glimmer of hope to a devastated car market, in spite of posting an unexpectedly steep 84 per cent drop in operating profit on Thursday and scrapping both performance target and the dividend.

The Renault boss said that although he expected the car market to worsen this year, “at 25 per cent down we are not far from the bottom”.
