Late payments by developers in Dubai led to a 57 per cent fall in profits this year by Halcrow, the engineering consultants.

Halcrow’s Middle Eastern division, which accounts for about a quarter of revenues, fell from a £1.3m ($2.1m) profit to a £4m loss in spite of a near-50 per cent rise in turnover from £82.7m to £121.8m.
