Stunned by how rapidly the cost of fuel has increased, airline executives have vied with each other in recent weeks to paint the blackest picture of the outlook for aviation if the oil price remains at or above current levels.
“The price of oil has challenged and changed all realities for the aviation industry,” says Tim Clark, president of Emirates, the fast-growing Dubai-based carrier that has aircraft on order to make it the world’s biggest long-haul airline.
