New-look Tories show they mean business

Senior Conservatives have urged business to shoulder more social responsibility, saying a shake-up of party policy will consider industry's duties in areas such as the environment, transport and waste disposal.

Alan Duncan, shadow trade and industry spokesman, yesterday signalled a break with the party's Thatcherite past, telling the Financial Times that the Tories would not be afraid to take on big business as they sought to recast themselves under David Cameron's leadership.
