CIA accused of running secret prisons abroad

The US Central Intelligence Agency is alleged to have been running secret prisons in Asia and eastern Europe where it interrogates suspected al-Qaeda prisoners.

Human Rights Watch, the US-based organisation, yesterday said there was strong evidence, including the flight records of CIA jets transporting prisoners out of Afghanistan, that Poland and Romania were among countries allowing the CIA to operate secret detention centres in their countries.
