Politics and fashion give hoteliers a suite success

New York hotels are booked to capacity as world and business leaders, dignitaries and fashionistas converge in the city this week, highlighting shrinking supply and higher rates after the conversion of several Manhattan hotels to condominiums.

Thousands have flocked to New York for the United Nations General Assembly, the World Business Forum and the catwalks of Fashion Week, as well as the season’s usual crop of big business conventions. Former US president Bill Clinton will on Friday [THURS SEPT 15] kick off the Clinton Global Initiative and host Tony Blair, UK prime minister, Condoleezza Rice, US secretary of state among other leaders.
